Dear Diary,

It was a nice and quiet week on Xanadu with some fun new discoveries… including another golden tool recipe! Wow! That only took almost a year and a half!

Things kicked off with a camper on the island, and while I thought Wart Jr. seemed pretty awesome, I was nervous about who he might want to kick off the island in order to move here, so I didn’t really press him too much to see if he was interested in making Xanadu his home. Better safe than sorry, right?

I made a point of checking out the fireworks on Sunday evening because it usually slips my mind. (And I’m pretty sure that as August goes on, I’m totally going to space and forget about the rest of them!) I tried Redd’s lottery over and over and over again but all I ever got was drinks and food. I got an orange frozen treat, boba coffee, boba strawberry tea (my fave, which is what I’m drinking in this pic), boba green tea, and strawberry cotton candy.

I had hoped to win some cool fireworks or clothing of some sort, but at least I was able to stay hydrated and hopped up on sugar as I enjoyed the fireworks!

Mom sent me another letter about shooting stars and making wishes and included another of Mom’s pen stands. I put it out but the brown was just kind of boring. I prefer last year’s pink one — it’s more colorful and fun!

Once again, Redd shows up and I already have everything he’s trying to sell. Meanwhile my art museum is still half empty. What the hell, dude? I got a little angry and Redd looked a little taken aback. Maybe that’ll scare him into bringing some new merch next time.

I rescued Gulliver again by finding the parts to his phone so he could call for a rescue, and the following day he rewarded me with the DIY recipe for a golden shovel! Wow! I wonder if that’s the final reward for Gulliver and now I’m going to get variations on the same items I’ve already gotten off him. Guess we’ll have to wait and see! (Also, while I appreciate the recipe for completion’s sake, I will probably never make it because it’s not like the golden tools don’t break anyway, it just takes a little bit longer) Oh, and I also got DIY recipes for a cool hyacinth crown and a pear hat from bottles that had washed ashore on the beach. Always nice to know I haven’t learned everything yet!

At the end of the week, I caught Sherb and Genji in the plaza setting off sparklers. Like, for a long time. They must have had a ton of them. It’s not firework night yet, but I guess they were just getting hyped up. I don’t know who gave these two permission to do fireworks in the plaza, but at least they had a bucket of water nearby in case of any accidents!
