Wootini’s Weekly Animal Crossing Diary 8/22/20
Dear Diary,
The summer is still going pretty well here on Xanadu. At least everyone seems to be having fun… you never know!
Thankfully the flowery painting I bought off Redd turned out to be the genuine article: Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh. It goes nicely next to Starry Night to make quite the collection of fine art!
Sunday brought another fireworks extravaganza and I tried my hand at the lottery again. I got an uchiwa fan which is cute, but I was more excited to win this fountain firework. It looks great but unfortunately it doesn’t last very long… and then you’re left with the burned out shell that you have to get rid of. Thankfully, Redd helpfully has a big trash bin behind his stall for just such an occasion!
I also designed a quick rainbow just to have something else shooting up into the sky. I was also surprised to see that the Xanadu X was still in the list of firework designs when I added the new one. Looks like you can have eight different custom designs. Maybe by next year’s show I’ll have some designs that don’t look like complete garbage that I can submit!
Label showed up early in the week and once again gave me a vampire coat and told me to come up with a goth style. I look a pillock with this skeleton hood on but I guess it was just the finishing touch Label was looking for. Honestly, I have to question her taste level. Still, I got some tailor tickets in the mail and a pair of Labelle shorts so I was able to make a summery Labelle look.
This week was also Lopez’s birthday and I felt terrible that I forgot to go shopping beforehand. There wasn’t anything good for sale at Nook’s so I ended up buying some wrapping paper and gifting him my extra typewriter. (I’d bought one the other day not realizing I already had one in storage.) To my delight, he seemed extremely excited about getting a typewriter and didn’t seem to be faking it at all! In fact, the next day he sent me a letter gushing about how he was literally about to go buy this exact same item. Phew!
Gulliver washed ashore again and I dug around until I found all his rusted parts so he could get home and send me a cool present. And this time the present was actually really cool — it was a miniature reproduction of the Statue of Liberty! I say miniature, but it’s bigger than I am. So I placed it on the island by the giant monster statue, but he’s actually bigger than Lady Liberty, so I had to put her behind him so the perspective works.
At the end of the week, Billy showed up at the campsite and I was immediately taken with him. But I didn’t want to risk losing a villager I really like by inviting him. Also, as I talked to him more it became clear that he’s a jock and I already have two of those right now and don’t need another. Oh well!
