Wootini’s Weekly Animal Crossing Diary 8/1/20
Dear Diary,
This week, Xanadu was like a dream. So much happening! So let’s not waste any more time and get right to it!
We kicked things off with another Bug Off. Since like with the Fishing Tournament, you don’t seem to start over at the beginning of the prizes, I figured it’s okay to just play a few rounds and not spend all day trying to collect everything. There will be more Bug Offs coming up where I can get more stuff. This time around I got a ladybug rug, a spider doorplate (great for Halloween!), a nasty-looking termite mound, and a ladybug umbrella. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Selling off all the extra bugs I’d caught was enough to push me over the edge and I actually paid off my final home loan! Woot! A very exciting day. I went over to talk to Tom Nook and he congratulated me on finally getting out of debt and said that since he can no longer expand my house, he would instead simply offer me free exterior renovations from now on. That’s pretty cool. Although not that great a deal since as I recall when I did a little exterior renovating, it wasn’t that expensive to begin with. Oh well. At least I’m out of debt!
I got a little excited when Lopez sent me a piece of artwork in the mail, but unfortunately, when I took it to the museum and tried to give it to Blathers, he quickly returned it having immediately declared it a nasty, ugly fake. Sigh. Let’s just say that the amazing painting wasn’t particularly amazing. I still love you, though, Lopez! Not your fault!
Because the Bug Off was held on Saturday, K.K. Slider did his show on Sunday instead. During the day there were a ton of people hanging out listening to him jam but in the evening when I went back to make a request, they all up and left. Was it something I said? Do I smell? Anyway, “K.K. Synth” is absolutely amazing live. One of my all-time favorite live songs. So much better than the record. No contest.
I swung by to check on Lopez and found him pacing around in his pajamas looking rather ill. Luckily, I happened to have some medicine on me so he was super excited and was feeling better in no time. As thanks, he gave me a pajama dress which is pretty cute but not something I’m comfortable walking around town in!
I noticed Shari looking pensive on the beach and asked her what was up. Turns out she was thinking of moving away, so I shut that idea down on the quickfast. Anyone who knows me knows I love my monkeys so I’m not about to let her go. There are people I wouldn’t mind saying goodbye to, but she’s not one of them.
I ordered some imperial furniture to add to the back room of my house and apparently I finally spent enough money at the ATM that they uploaded a Nook Shopping App onto my Nook Phone so I can do my shopping from anywhere on the island! Convenient! Wish I’d had this earlier!
A friend of mine also mailed me a present which turned out to be the rare DIY recipe for a cutting board! Nice! I keep getting nothing but duplicate recipes off my neighbors, so I’d pretty much given up hope of ever getting anything good, especially not this one! So yay!
This week I got a weird letter from Luna that included a bed. I tried laying down on it right away in my front yard but nothing happened. Guess you have to be indoors for it to work. Because when I went upstairs and laid down in my bedroom, I drifted right off and Luna appeared to me in a dream offering to upload a dream of Xanadu and allow me to visit other islands in a dream. This is nice because you don’t have to worry about people accidentally (or on purpose) wrecking things on your island. I dreamed of Xanadu and then tried to visit another dream island but I didn’t have the dream address of anyone handy and this time around you can’t just dream of random places. You used to be able to do that before, and it was kind of fun to go to completely unknown and crazy towns. The next day, Luna thanked me for uploading my dream of Xanadu with a dream bell exchange ticket. I was hoping it was a way to visit random islands but apparently it’s just to sell for 5,000 bells as her way of saying thanks for uploading a dream, I guess.
Gullivarrr resurfaced on my shores again this week and I made sure not to blow it like I did before with Gulliver and I went diving until I found his phone then went right to him to give it back. I wasn’t going to forget this time! The following day I received this sideways pirate barrel, which i decided to put next to the other barrel by the dock. Making a little waterfront fishing area.
At the end of the week, Redd parked his nasty little trawler out back again and I went in search of a genuine work of art. There seemed to be two, but one of them I already had, so I went with the great statue. Thankfully, this turned out to be a genuine bronze statue of King Kamehameha I by Thomas Ridgeway Gould from 1883. Phew! And it’s nice because I feel like we need more statues. Unfortunately, this one is in the back, so when you first walk into the art museum you’re still greeted by a bunch of empty blocks. One day! One day it’ll be full!
