Wootini’s Weekly Animal Crossing Diary 7/18/20

Dear Diary,
The summer continues to be fun with another fishing tournament, some new artwork, and new discoveries! There’s always something interesting to find! Let’s get to it!

C.J. held another fishing tourney and much to my delight, it appears that you continue from where you left off last time. When I redeemed my points that afternoon, I never got a duplicate reward. I got a fishing-rod stand, a fish pochette, a tackle bag, and a fish wand. And knowing that you keep going from last time, I didn’t feel the need to press on and try to get everything. Because once you have everything, what’s the point of even doing the fishing tourney anymore? This way, the fun lasts longer!

When K.K. Slider didn’t show up on Saturday night because the plaza had been taken over by the fishing tourney all day, I realized that he didn’t stop by on Friday like he had with the Bug Off. But thankfully, he showed up on Sunday rehearsing and riffing all day and then taking requests after 6. I asked him for an old favorite, “DJ K.K.”

I got a weird letter from Sherb that said: “Dear tater tot’s brain. Do you like artsy stuff? ’Cause I found something real neat when I was cleaning. It made my brain think all kinds of weird thoughts just by staring at it! It’s that cool? Now it’s your turn!” I had no idea what he was talking about but he’d enclosed a Calm Painting that when I brought it to Blathers, he declared it to be a genuine George Surat painting, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” Woot! More art for the museum! We’re making progress!

I found Gulliver washed ashore again, but this time I think he really bonked his noggin, because he seemed to think he was a pirate named Gullivarrr. Also, instead of digging up communicator parts for his cell phone, I had to actually go find his phone out in the water. It took a little while diving around but I eventually came up with it!

And in keeping with his weird pirate theme, Gulliver — sorry, Gullivarrr — rewarded me the following day by sending me a pirate bandana in the mail. I was mildly irritated to get another hat, but it’s got a cool skull and crossbones on the front and kind of goes with what I’m wearing, so I’ll let it slide…

Hugh looked upset so I asked him what was wrong and he said that Apple was mad at him. He didn’t say exactly what he did to upset her while they were eating snacks together, but it must have been bad to get him so worked up. Although when I delivered his present to Apple, she didn’t seem nearly as upset. She was thrilled to get the cream and sugar set he’d had me deliver, and gifted me with a pair of retro shades to say thanks. I reported back to Hugh, who was relieved to hear I’d smoothed things over. Now they can snack in peace again!

I popped in to Rizzo’s house and he commented that we hadn’t talked in a while. I honestly don’t know how long it’s been, but I’m surprised it’s been so long that he’d mention it. Now we’ll wait and see if that made him upset enough to try and move away. I hope not. I still kind of like him.

At the end of the week, Redd parked his shady ship out back and I’m pretty sure he actually had two genuine works of art this time around. Usually it’s just the one. Shady fox… Anyway, I let the painting go so I could get a statue for a change because when you first walk into the art section it’s just a bunch of empty stands. And then I found out that the Ancient Statue was small and went in the little glass case with the other Asian art. Boo. But the Jomon Period “Dogu” Figurine is still pretty cool. And hey, the more art I can find to fill the museum, the better! It’s my favorite!
