Dear Diary,

This was a surprisingly busy week on Xanadu with a whole lot going on, including something that I swear I don’t remember ever happening before. Can there still be new things to discover even after all these years?

Kicking things off, I popped into Ace’s place only to find him seriously under the weather. As always, though, I had medicine on me so I was happy to help him out. Anything to solidify that friendship, right? Of course, all I got for thanks was a plaid puffed-sleeve shirt…

Then we had a camper, and I went to say hi, just to see who it might be. (Even though there’s no room on the island for anyone to move in.) Melba seemed cool enough, and I rather enjoyed that her catchphrase was “toasty.” I’ve never been friends with a koala before. And unfortunately, as there’s no available spaces to move into right now, I won’t be friends with this one now!

This week was Renée’s birthday. And once again, the notice on the bulletin board was so long ago I’d completely forgotten about it and had to scramble for a present. I wrapped up a rock guitar I had in my inventory and she seemed positively thrilled with it. Phew!

Although, maybe she wasn’t as thrilled with the gift as I’d thought because the very next day she told me she was thinking about moving away! Seriously? Nope. Not yet. I’m gonna get your picture if it kills me. (Hopefully, it won’t.)

I had a lot of extra time to kick around on Monday so I decided to pay Kapp’n some Nook Miles and take an island tour. And much to my surprise, as we approached the island, the sky got dark and day turned to night. It’s like magic! And on the island, there were various star fragments washed up on the beach and shooting stars to wish on in the sky! (As I’d hoped, those star fragments washed ashore on Xanadu the following day.) There was also a bottle on the shore that contained a DIY recipe for a Virgo harp!

There were two rocks on the island so I whacked at them with my shovel and to my surprise, various star fragments of all different zodiac signs popped out! I honestly don’t remember ever touring an island like this ever before, but is that really possible? I mean, my memory is crap, but this really did feel like something brand new to me. I haven’t gone on a tour in ages, so maybe this was something new that popped up after I’d already kind of gotten bored with Kapp’n’s tours. I should probably go on more, now!

I saw Ace looking preoccupied and I worried that he, too, was thinking about moving away, so I chatted with him and what he actually wanted was some company. We hung out for a while and played a card game and to thank me for my visit, Ace gave me a mesh cap. Still not a picture, dude…

Since I had all those zodiac star fragments, I decided I wanted to redo the back room of my house that I change up periodically. Unfortunately, after crafting everything possible, the minute I started redecorating, my doorbell rang. Isn’t that always the way? It was Renée, though, so I went and let her in so we could hang out since we’re not BFFs yet. When she finally left, though, I still got nothing more than a tropical hat. Sigh.

But after she left, I was able to set out all of my specially-crafted zodiac furniture I’d been able to make so far. It’s not really a particularly comfortable or livable room, but it looks pretty cool anyway. I threw on a chiton for the photo because I thought it looked more appropriate than my shorts and T-shirt!

Then, if that wasn’t already enough, this week was also the start of a new month. Mom sent a letter that read: “My dear Chris, Fireflies light up the night sky, taking my mind off the stresses of the day. As I watch, amazed and distracted, the mosquitos make their move. I’m terribly itchy. — Mom.” Enclosed was another Mom’s handmade apron, this one a nice denim with colorful pockets.

I had also helped out Gulliver the day before (honestly one of the more difficult attempts, as a lot of what I dug up were clams, not pieces of his phone, for some reason) and he sent me another sombrero. But to my surprise, I actually didn’t have this color already. Guess there’s a lot of varieties!

Lopez really needs to stop with the prank wars. This time, he pissed off Apollo, which honestly doesn’t seem like a particularly good idea. Anyway, I delivered Lopez’s apology gift, and it turned out to be a purple steampunk costume. When he tried it on and asked what I thought, I had to admit that it did kind of suit him. Of course, I think that this counts as doing a favor for Lopez, not Apollo, even though Apollo was the one who gave me a gift. (It was a moss ball, if you’re curious.)

At the end of the week, I realized I hadn’t gone to Harv’s island to check out what Sahara might have on offer. Unfortunately, that same day I had a call from Harv alerting me to the fact that Reese and Cyrus want to take wedding pictures again. And worse still, when I went to the island, they were all waiting there to intercept me before I could get to the plaza behind his house. Sigh. So I found myself stuck inside decorating the chapel and taking another commemorative wedding picture of the happy couple. Reese gave me another wedding bench Cyrus made and some heart crystals. I don’t know if I already have everything they can buy. Guess we’ll see…
