Dear Diary,

Well, this was a week full of things I haven’t done in quite some time. And while one of them was delightful, the other one kind of made me sad. But what are you gonna do? That’s life.

I was surprised to see another bamboo tree growing since I try to maintain them pretty well by digging up any new shoots before they can even take root. And usually, if any of them start to grow, there’s no room for them so they die off pretty soon. But this one actually had the room to grow and flourish, so I decided to let it be. I like my bamboo trees around my zen area.

Since it was the first time in a long time that I was in town on a Saturday evening, I thought I’d swing by Club LOL and see what K.K. Slider was doing. I didn’t have a specific song to request, so I let him pick. I told him I was feeling lazy, and he played “K.K. Moody” for me then gave me a copy to take home for myself. It was a good show. It’s always a good show.

My mom sent me a letter that read: “Sometimes I drop into bakeries to get out of the rain. I always end up buying too many donuts. Don’t be like me! — Mom.” And while I was hoping she’d enclosed some delicious donuts, she actually sent me a ribbon umbrella. Which was like, whatever, but since it was actually raining that day, it came in kind of handy. So thanks, Mom!

I happened to dig up Tiffany’s time capsule by mistake, but thankfully, she was ready to open it anyway. Inside was a letter that read: “To the future me, Why did I want this buried? Because I’m bored with it! But I’m hoping it will feel very fashion forward when I get it back again. I love being chic! — An anxious Tiffany.” I guess she didn’t consider her red-check tee particularly fashion forward still, because that’s what she gave me as a thank you for helping her out with this nonsense.

Had a couple of campers this week, and Bruce seemed promising, but we still didn’t have any spaces in town for anyone to move in. Although I think that when Nana moves out, I will just let someone completely random show up. I won’t try to invite anyone specific or persuade a camper to move in permanently. I want it to be random to see who I get. Just for fun!

And by the end of the week, it was time for Nana to say goodbye. Isabelle reminded me on the day that it would be appropriate for the mayor to say goodbye to the departing resident. It’s been so long since anyone has left Geneva that it felt really weird. I popped into her place and she already had everything packed up and ready to go. She told me not to worry and that she would be fine. I know she will.

And the following day, she was gone. And so was her house. Just an empty plot of land. She left me a letter that read: “Missing you, Chris! Moving day is finally here, and I’m missing you already. I’ve enclosed a picture of me so you’ll never forget the time we spent together! From a lonely Nana.” The personal photo would’ve meant a lot more if she hadn’t already given me one recently when we truly cemented our friendship. Still, it’s a lovely gesture. Now we wait to see who puts down roots next!
