Dear Diary,

Another busy week on the island as I continued to catch new fish and tried out new looks and learned new reactions. Not to mention visits to Harv’s island to take photos for Reese and Cyrus (which I am not doing every day because it’s a lot of work and who has time for that every day?) and the everyday tasks of keeping Xanadu clean. Oh, and I also finally found a new fossil that I needed so that means I just need one more part of one more fossil and I’m done with that section of the museum. One day!

So it turned out that this time, the information I had heard that this painting is always going to be genuine was accurate. I wasn’t sure since I got burned last time. But the Dynamic Panting (also known as Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave off Kanagawa) was the real thing. Phew! Also, Redd doesn’t show up nearly enough because I love the art section of the museum the most and I can’t wait to fill it up more!

This week Opal and Lopez were enjoying K.K. Slider riffing when I went ahead and let him pick whatever he wanted to play. He went with “K.K. Island” which was… okay, I guess. I mean, they can’t all be classics!

I learned a few new reactions this week. Genji taught me flourish and shocked, while Opal showed me how to do a cold chill. I could use an anger one, though. Haven’t seen anything like that, yet.

Unfortunately, my “Spud” nickname has spread around the island quite a bit further than I might have liked, so when Sherb had another suggestion, I was all ears. “Tater Tot” is still a little too potatoey for me, but at least it’s cuter than “Spud.” I know I could make my own suggestion, but come on — picking your own nickname is just weird. Who does that?

This week I also ran into Gulliver napping on my beach so I woke him up and dug up his stupid communicator parts and sent him on his merry way. And then the next day, he sent me another hat. It was a Russian Tubeteika. I mean, it’s not the worst thing, but I would really prefer something other than a hat!

I also found this week that a couple times I struggled to locate the fourth fossil and the following day I would dig up five because the remaining one from the day before seems to have stuck around for me to finally find it. And one time I found a fossil smack dab in the middle of the playground! At least the sand was easy to dig up!

I was doing some fishing in the rain to try and get some rare fish to sell for bells, and was very surprised to get this particular Nook Miles reward. Ten was one thing, but I never though I was actually going to catch 50 in a row. Because I have such an itchy trigger finger that I can’t usually get past maybe 10 in a row before I screw it up. So I’m extremely skeptical that I actually caught 50 fish in a row without blowing it. But hey, I’ll take it, even if it was a glitch! Hopefully, that glitch will also help me to catch 100 in a row!

I hadn’t seen Label in a while, and her request for a vacation look was super simple. She gave me a polo shirt to start off my look, but I was already wearing this pineapple print shirt with cargo shorts and flip flops, so I was basically in vacation mode already. As I told her to judge my look I quickly realized I should’ve swapped my glasses for sunglasses, but it didn’t seem to matter as she loved my look and rewarded me with a pair of Labelle pumps. Score!

I visited a friend’s island this week because Celeste was there and I had time to swing by and grab a quick DIY. But I was more excited by this meme shirt I found in his Able Sisters shop! It’s so fun! (Also, even though Celeste was there, I never saw a single shooting star the entire time I was there. Rude!)

I had a hat I wanted to give Genji, but when I went to visit him, he was really sick. So I gave him some of the medicine I had on me and he immediately felt a lot better. He gave me a pocket tee to say thanks, and I’m glad that here, it only takes one dose of medicine to cure folks. Before, you’d have to check in on them multiple times to make sure they got better. Oh, and also, the next day, when I tried to give him the hat again, he was constantly fishing, so he was too busy to accept any gifts. Sigh. I eventually managed it, and he seemed pleased. I want to keep Genji happy because I don’t want him moving. It would ruin the entire design of that section of the island!
