Wootini’s Weekly Animal Crossing Diary 5/22/21

Dear Diary,

Quite an eventful week on Xanadu with some new discoveries, a new friend, and an only partially successful attempt at being creative. One day I’ll get the hang of it!

Much to my surprise, Harry was crafting himself a mum crown and shared the DIY recipe with me. I always check the bottles on the beach that have washed ashore every day as well as whichever neighbor is crafting in their home but at this point, I rarely find anything new. So it’s always a delight when I get a DIY recipe I don’t already have. Even if it’s a mum crown!

Since I seem to have collected the entire catalog of K.K. Slider’s music, I just let him play whatever he wanted this time around. I was thinking of not bothering K.K. Slider at all, but Lopez was sitting there all by himself and I thought it would be nice to give him some company and we could enjoy a private concert together. Like a date. And K.K. Slider picked “K.K. Jazz,” which is one of my favorites, so it was totally worth it!

We had a camper at the beginning of the week, but I have to admit that I didn’t take an immediate shine to Ursala when I met her so I was kind of glad when she didn’t notice that we had an open slot for someone to move to the island. Of course, the really cool folks only show up when there’s no room at the inn…

I was also glad when Blathers proved me right and confirmed that the mystic statue I bought from Redd was the genuine But of Nefertiti by Thutmose circa 1345 BCE. Yay! I’ve been saying for a long time that the Xanadu museum needs more sculptures. All those empty pedestals bother me every time I go in there!

On Sunday I saw that Shari’s plot of land had been sold to someone named Diva, and I gotta admit, that name has a lot to live up to! I immediately liked how she’s wearing too much makeup like one of my all-time BFFs, Tiffany. And I assume she’s got a whole ancient Egypt interior design scheme. Not that I know for sure because the entire rest of the week she was never in her home again! Although I guess I can understand wanting to explore your new home…

This week also brought International Museum Day, which actually goes on for a few days to give you time to go around and collect stamps at the three stations scattered around each section of the museum. The thing is, it’s the same as last year, so I just wound up with three more plaques that I already have from the last time I did this.

However, the following day, Blathers reminded me that I hadn’t collected stamps in all the sections and I remembered that the art section of the museum hadn’t been built until after quite a while, so it wasn’t around for the first International Museum Day. So I just popped upstairs and had a quick spin around the floor to collect the three stamps to receive my art plaque to add to the other three. Of course, now it means I’ll probably just completely ignore this event when it comes around again next year. I mean, it would be one thing if you had to solve little riddles or something to get a stamp, but you literally just walk up and stamp your card. It takes next to no effort, but it’s also not really that fun.

Remember the other week when Sherb wanted to start calling me “buddy” and I let him even though it’s not a particularly original nickname? Well, I’d also hoped it wouldn’t catch on, so I was a little taken aback when Lopez caught wind of it and wanted to start calling me “buddy” as well. Sigh. I gotta admit, it sounds better coming from Lopez, and I suppose I like it better than “DJ CHR” which he’s been calling me for ages. #brightside

It’s time for Eurovision again, and after watching the first two semifinals, I was inspired to create a Eurovision 2021 design to use. I even used the right colors for the host country’s flag and everything. I’m not very good at these designs, which is why I don’t do them very often. But I thought I did a good job of approximating the Eurovision logo without being able to make each letter distinct.

Unfortunately, since I don’t do designs very often, I forgot that you have to create a “pro” design in order to have sleeves so I could only turn this into a tank top. And there doesn’t seem to be any way in the app to convert a regular design to a pro design. Sigh. Plus, as you can see, while I don’t mind wearing it as a tank top, I also didn’t take into consideration the wrap around. So while the Eurovision logo looks fine on a sign, you lose the beginning and end of it when you wear it as a top. Oh well, maybe next year I’ll get it right!
