Wootini’s Weekly Animal Crossing Diary 5/17/25

6 min readMay 17, 2025

Dear Diary,

Well, this week was crazy busy with all kinds of stuff so let’s not waste any more time and jump right in!

Once more, I was surprised to find a DIY recipe in a bottle washed up on the beach that I didn’t already have. And the fancy rose wreath is kind of pretty so I might craft it for my front door… even though the wreath I have up right now is already very pretty… Guess we’ll see!

It was also Patty’s birthday and I realized I’d forgotten to get her a present so I was really scrambling. There was nothing appropriate at the store, and I know her home decor is all outdoor backyard stuff, so I crafted her an iron garden bench to wrap up. She seemed really happy with it so I felt better.

That first day of the week, I also had a camper, and while Greta seemed perfectly fine, I wasn’t particularly inspired to invite her to move to the island. Sorry, Greta!

The next day I got my thank you card from Patty, but she just sent along a tiny party hat. No picture. I guess it’s probably still too soon for that. She hasn’t been here as long as some. Although I wasn’t really expecting a picture anyway since no one seems to want to give me a picture anymore anyway. But a tiny party hat? The day after a party? What, was it just leftover?

This week was the annual Eurovision Song Contest, so I altered last year’s design to represent this year’s host country of Switzerland. Then I had a Eurovision dance party in my island disco. And while I’m not that great at clothing design, if you’re feeling too lazy to do a better version than mine, you can just grab mine with the code MO-VF77-SMX8-S64D.

Not only don’t people want to give me their pictures even though I’m super nice all the time, people don’t even want to move to my island even though I keep it perfectly clean and nice. But finally, over a week after Muffy moved out, Broffina finally moved in. And honestly, when I saw her name on the construction sign, I automatically assumed Broffina would be a big female gorilla. Not sure why. But I was wrong. When I went in to meet her, Broffina turned out to be a chicken. Surprise!

I saw Kitt looking worried so I asked what was up and she told me she and Camofrog had an argument and asked me to deliver a present to smooth things over. Given that I still don’t have either of their pictures, I was more than happy to do the favor for both of them. Camofrog seemed happy enough with her gift of a young-royal shirt and I thought it looked sufficiently ridiculous on him. So he thanked me with a long-underwear set. But hey, whether this counts as a favor for Camofrog or Kitt, it’s a win for me.

Later in the week, Sherb seemed deep in thought and that could mean anything given that weirdo. But it turned out he was thinking of a new nickname for me. And while I feel like I might have been called “tater tot” before, I honestly don’t hate it, so I told him to go ahead. Now we’ll see if it spreads around Xanadu…

Usually, when someone new moves to the island, they spend the first bunch of days wandering around so it’s a while before I can get into their house to see how they live. But the weather wasn’t great this week so I found Broffina at home just a couple days after she moved in. And I don’t know what I was expecting, but this kind of fancy luxury seems about right for her… or at least my first impressions of her!

Camofrog came running over to me one day and asked me if I wanted to come over. I had a little free time so I said sure, why not. Anything to cement our friendship further. He offered to sell me some stuff but as usual, I politely declined since I’ve basically got all of this in my catalog anyway. But at least he didn’t seem as put out as some of the others when I turned them down! And on the way out, he thanked me for coming over with a Bunny dress. Um, thanks?

Finally, I was surprised when Lopez asked me if I wanted to do a treasure hunt. I would have preferred someone newer because sometimes the treasure is their picture. But I still agreed to it and immediately regretted it. Because I had only just started my rounds and it had rained the day before, so there were a bunch of holes in the ground and everything I dug up was either a gyroid or a fossil. I could not find the treasure in time! Thankfully, I wasn’t too upset because as I said, I’ve got Lopez’s picture. If it had been anyone newer, I would have been devastated to lose out on the slim chance I was going to get their picture.

After I lost, I went around to clean up the fallen branches and pick weeds as I normally would have, and I actually found a hole I didn’t spot during my frantic running around. It was the box of treasure, but I couldn’t open it. So I went and found Lopez again and gave it back to him. And I still didn’t find out what was in it! It’s weird, though, because I don’t recall this ever happening before. I usually find the treasure, but even when I don’t, I feel like that’s the end of it. I don’t go looking for it so I didn’t even know that you could! I thought after you failed, they went and dug it back up themselves. Now I know that’s not true. Although there’s no point in finding it, really, since you don’t even get to find out what was in the box. Oh well! Better luck next time!
