Dear Diary,

This week on Xanadu was quite eventful! I got some new things, a nice present, said goodbye to a dear friend, and did something I haven’t done in ages!

You might recall in my last diary entry I rescued Gulliver… again. This time my reward was this ancient administrator hat. The thing is, I’m not an ancient administrator and I don’t know if I have an outfit this will go with. Besides, right now I’m trying to rock my barefoot farm boy look.

Saturday night there was quite a crowd for K.K. Slider’s weekly concert. I’d heard about a song called “Spring Blossoms” and I didn’t know it so that became my request this time. Seemed appropriate since it’s still spring, even if the cherry blossoms have already gone.

Shari looked preoccupied and when I asked her what was up, she admitted she was thinking about moving away. My initial reaction was no, being that she’s a monkey and you know how much I love my monkeys. But she was a resident of my last village and I have been hoping to meet new people here on this island. So I wished her well.

The same day that Shari wanted to move out, Ruby was staying at the campsite. She seemed nice enough, but she’s a bright bubbly personality like Apple, and I don’t know if I can really deal with two Apples on the island! In the end, she only wanted to play a game and never mentioned wanting to move here, so I didn’t even have to worry about it!

I had a letter from Lopez that read: “I saw this wallpaper and one word came to mind: “DJ CHR.” It was then followed by “exquisite,” “high-class,” and “trendsetting.” The point is, this is more than just wallpaper. It’s a lifestyle.” Enclosed was a white botanical-tile wall, which I put up in my bathroom to see how it looked. I like it a lot better than the plain white brick that was there before. Thanks, Lopez, it is classy!

As soon as I agreed to let Shari move, I regretted it but tried to convince myself I was doing the right thing. Unfortunately, when I went back to my house to check the framed pictures of my friends I have on the walls in the rooms, I realized I was wrong, and I’d never gotten Shari’s picture from her! And now it’s too late to change things. She’s going and I won’t have anything to remember her by except my memories, and we know how shaky those are! I remember years ago, when a friend would move away, they would send you a goodbye letter and sometimes they would enclose their picture. Sadly, they don’t do that anymore… I’m gonna miss you, too, Shari.

Towards the end of the week, I was surprised to bump into Celeste wandering around in front of the Able Sisters shop. And I mean literally bump into because she’s always looking at the stars! Isabelle hadn’t mentioned anything about a meteor shower, but after Celeste gave me a DIY recipe for a starry wall, I did actually see a handful of shooting stars to make wishes on through the clouds. I haven’t seen shooting stars in a long time, so it was a nice surprise.

Speaking of pleasant surprises, Redd parked his trawler out back on Friday and the mystic statue he had for sale appeared to be the genuine article. I was confident enough in my suspicions to go ahead and give him the bells for it, but we won’t know for sure until I bring it to Blathers for confirmation. But that’s for next week!

I was also absolutely flabbergasted to finally fish up a pop-eyed goldfish! It’s one of the handful of fish and bugs I have not yet caught for the museum. I keep meaning to make a list and note when they’re in season so I can fill in those holes, but I keep forgetting. What’s crazy is that the pop-eyed goldfish is around every single month, so I’m surprised I never caught one before. Oh well, it was still nice to do something I haven’t done in ages. You never know what might happen next on this island!
