Dear Diary,

The farewell tour continues as even the most normal things that I do all the time in Geneva make me sad because I know I’m going to have to say goodbye soon. Part of me doesn’t want to say goodbye — it’s been over seven years I’ve lived here and I’m pretty attached — but the other part of me is excited to embark on another new adventure. Sigh…

Because this week started on a leap day, which is a bit of a rarity, Isabelle welcomed me to town and tried to do something special for it. But instead of handing out some weird item that doesn’t have much to do with the holiday in the town plaza, she just shouted “Happy leap day!” at the top of her lungs at me. I guess that’ll do!

As March started officially, Butch kicked off the month by trying to move away. Naturally, I turned him down because it’s still not time yet. Sorry, dude!

Also, for a change, I was actually up early enough on a Sunday to run into Joan. And even though it was technically a couple minutes after noon, she still sold me some turnips. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot on me, so I only bought 10. I think they were 92 bells when I bought them. The next day they were up to 101 but I decided to take a risk and I ended up selling on Tuesday when they were 137. That was a decent increase. And a good thing I did, too, because the day after, they went down to 51! Not that I need the money… you can’t take it with you!

I actually tried shopping for Anchovy’s birthday present in advance, but didn’t see anything in Nookington’s that I liked, so I went back and bought him something on the actual day at the last minute. It’s the last birthday I’m going to celebrate here in Geneva, so I wanted to try and find something good. I shouldn’t have expected too much!

I don’t know why the loom made me pick it, but I’m glad I did because Anchovy seemed surprisingly excited to open it up. Maybe he can weave some nice rugs or something. Since I’m usually terrible at picking out a good present for my friends, I’m glad that I was able to pull it off one last time.

I guess since Butch is stuck here for a little while longer he decided to spend his time coming up with a new nickname for me. I actually like “skippy” so I’m hoping that it spreads around town over the next two weeks so I can enjoy hearing it.

At the end of the week, Deli tried to move, and I unfortunately had to shut him down again because his date was still before my moving date. Sorry, guy! Although we’re getting close to the time where someone’s going to try and move and they’re going to pick a day after the 20th and I’m going to have to say it’s okay. That’s going to hurt…
