Dear Diary,

Not a whole lot happened this week on Xanadu, but what did happen was quite eventful! I got lucky, made a stupid mistake, and hope I don’t regret another decision I made! Yikes!

When Kiki told me she was thinking about moving away, I was seriously torn. She’s been one of my favorite neighbors but I’m trying not to be like I was in my last town where I got too attached to people and never let them go. I was practically keeping them prisoner, no matter how many times they begged me to let them go. So I wished her luck and made sure to say goodbye the day she actually moved out. That was at the beginning of the week, but still no one has staked a claim on that plot of land. We haven’t even had a camper to invite! (I also haven’t gone traveling to random islands to see if I can run into anyone interesting I want on my island. Sometimes the randomness is more fun!)

I got a letter from Harry saying he’d found this wild painting right half collecting dust in his house and so he sent it to me. Now, up until this point, any piece of art that I’ve received in the mail has been a complete and utter fake, so I didn’t expect much from this one, either. So imagine my surprise when I presented it to Blathers and he excitedly added half of Tawaraya Sotatsu’s Folding Screen of Fujin and Raijin to our museum’s collection. Go, Harry!

Gullivarrr washed ashore and I was able to find his phone pretty quickly, so the next day he rewarded me with this pirate dress. It’s cute, but it doesn’t really go with these shoes!

At the end of the week, Redd parked his shady trawler out back so I went to have a look. There was only one piece of art that I didn’t already have, but a slip of the tongue had me paying an outlandish price for a scary painting instead of asking for a closer look to make sure it was real! Oops! And after I’d already been forced to pay up, Redd did let me take a closer look at it and I could tell immediately I’d been hoodwinked. Total fake. Sigh. Well, at least Harry kept the week from being a total loss. And it’s not like I don’t have bells to waste — I’ve got millions in the bank! Still, it’s the principle of the thing. I don’t want Redd getting bells for this kind of shady activity. It’s criminal!
