Dear Diary,

This week we kicked off spring in a big way with Festivale, although as usual, I didn’t participate fully. There was also another birthday and some other nonsense, so read on!

Seriously, I swear Quillson tries to move away every single week. It’s getting to be a bit much, honestly. And as I’ve explained to them over and over again, nobody’s leaving until I do. I swear, once I move away, this is going to become a ghost town as everyone else runs screaming into the night, free at last!

I swung by Lopez’s place to say hey and he asked me to dig up that time capsule he’d had me bury a while back. Inside was a skull tee and a note that read: “My dear person in the future, Note to remember: Always stay fantastic! If people say you’re not? Well, you are! You know you’ve got style to spare, so dress your best, OK? Lopez, the Romantic.” And apparently dressing your best doesn’t mean putting on that musty skull tee you buried with this inspirational missive. No, it means passing that on to me as thanks and wearing whatever else you want!

Festivale marks the end of winter and everyone was running around in their colorful outfits and headdresses. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t in the mood to go dig out my Festivale ensemble from the closet. It’s also still a bit chilly to be running around without a coat!

However, I did swing by to see Pavé for a big “Woo Hoo!” and to do a little boogying anyway. Of course, I wasn’t about to go gather up feathers for him because it’s a complete pain in the butt. You have to get three of the same color before he rewards you and that takes forever. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Next year, when we celebrate Festivale in my new town, I’ll be sure to experience it to its fullest. But after this many years, I’m kind of over this particular version.

Much to my surprise, the day after, the snow was completely gone and everything was green again! So Festivale really was the end of winter! Still a bit chilly so I’m going to keep my jacket on. It is March, after all!

So, it was Hamphrey’s birthday and I went to Nookington’s to buy him a present and saw the K.K. Slider albums on display. I realized that in all these years, I don’t think I’ve ever tried giving someone music instead of furniture or clothes, so I bought “Only Me” and wrapped it up. As expected, it didn’t go over very well. I think Hamphrey would have preferred some furniture or clothing. He acted like I gave him a giant musical note or something. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right?

Towards the end of the week, Tiffany tried to move away again. Sigh. Also, I had to point out that café au lait and french toast actually goes together pretty well, so her argument didn’t hold a drop of water. I got her that time!

Oh also, while asking around to find the owner of a missing item I found laying on the ground, I swung by Tiff’s place and saw she still had the birthday table I gave her in her home. I like it — it makes it seem like she’s hosting someone’s birthday every single day! Fun!
