Dear Diary,

This week, Xanadu got a new resident, winter threatened, we started prepping for Toy Day, and more! It’s not slowing down for anything!

I was very surprised to walk out of my house on Saturday afternoon and find that it was overcast and snowing! I know, it’s hard to see in this picture, but there were actually a few stray snowflakes falling from the clouds. It doesn’t even feel like winter yet! Luckily, it’s not really winter yet, because the snow wasn’t heavy and it didn’t stick to the ground. But that’s coming! This was just Mother Nature giving us a little heads-up!

I also got my reward from Gulliver for helping him get off my island, and it was the South Pole. Hopefully just a replica. I’d hate to think that I had the actual one! Oh, and as you can see in this pic, just like how everyone wears hats and coats when it rains, they also wear adorable little beanies when it snows! Haven’t seen them on sale in the Able Sisters yet, though. I want one!

I didn’t know what to pick so I just let K.K. Slider go with how he was feeling this week. He decided to play us a rendition of “Lucky K.K.,” and I’m still on a roll because I don’t have that in my library, either! Score!

I had a letter from Luna asking me to update the dream of Xanadu, and so I popped up to my bedroom to have a lay down. After I updated the dream of Xanadu for anyone who wants to visit, I decided to go ahead and let her send me to dream about some random island. She sent me to Cheriwine, which was a lovely little place with lots of waterfalls. It was another sectioned-off island like so many enjoy having, with all the homes situated in one particular area. I guess it makes it easier to visit with everyone…

After I got those new reactions, I noticed that there was a whole other section full of empty slots and I wondered if those would also get filled in. I’m thinking they very well might be, because Shari taught me the “Confident Reaction” this week. I love learning new things! That’s an awful lot of empty slots for reactions, though… Can they possibly fill them all?

I didn’t have to wait as long for Keaton’s replacement as I did for Rizzo’s. Francine moved in pretty quickly, although not as quick as they used to. She seems cute enough, but we’ll see.

Sherb asked me if I wanted to play treasure hunt and since I’d already dug up all of the day’s fossils, it was relatively easy to locate where the treasure was buried. And wouldn’t you know it, the reward was Sherb’s photo! That’s my third one! Look how cute he is in his little coat and hat! Also, dig my ’70s realness I’m serving!

On Dec. 1, my mom sent me a letter that read: “My dear Chris, The house is covered in snow, like a thick blanket. One that’s cold and wet… As I battle the bitter cold, I think of you and sew through the night. Stay warm, my child! — Mom.” And enclosed was this delightful Mom’s hand-knit sweater! She’s very talented. Although I put it in storage for a little bit because I was still enjoying my ’70s ensemble and wasn’t ready to change it quite yet.

I have to admit that Dec. 1 is maybe a little too soon to start decorating for the holidays, but at least Isabelle waited until December instead of starting the day after Turkey Day!

When December began, the store also began selling toys in preparation for Toy Day. So far I’ve got an RC helicopter, a plush toy, a dollhouse, and a pop-up book. A friend of mine mailed me a tent, but that hasn’t gone on sale in my shop yet. I’ve been buying one of everything so far because I don’t know how Toy Day works on this island. Before, Jingles would give you a bag of presents and you had to deliver them to folks depending on what they told you they wanted for Toy Day. I’ve never bought the toys myself. I guess I’ll find out at some point… hopefully before Toy Day arrives!

I know the temperature has dropped a little since it’s December and all, but I don’t know if building a campfire right in the middle of the Town Plaza is the best idea. I hope Clay and Francine cleared this with Isabelle first! At one point, Lopez stopped and warmed his hands for a bit, but it was Sherb who actually walked over and plopped himself down opposite Francine to relax with them!

Label had stopped by for another visit and she wanted a fairy tale theme so I put on a princess dress, tiara, and sparkly pumps. She loved it, naturally, and gave me some Labelle socks. So I guess that’s it for the Labelle clothes. It all seems to be duplicates now. Hopefully, she expands her line at some point!

I’d been thinking about putting in another incline on the west side of my island for a while, to offer easier access to that beach. But when I tried, there was nowhere the incline could fit, as it can’t go down onto the sand. I suppose sand isn’t strong enough to really support the construction. So I actually did a little bit of terraforming for the very first time. I dug out the cliff enough so that the incline would fit on the land without going into the sand, but it still didn’t seem to fit. I’m so frustrated! I don’t really want to dig in any further than this just for an incline. I may have to reconsider… and build back the cliff to where it used to be. This just looks weird.
