Wootini’s Weekly Animal Crossing Diary 1/6/24
Dear Diary,
Well, the New Year is off to a roaring start! I had multiple campers, a celebration, and even learned new things! I know, right? It was a busy week, so let’s jump right in!
As 2023 wound to a close, we had a camper at the campsite. I honestly wouldn’t want to stay in a tent in the middle of winter, but hey — you do you, Bud. And Bud seemed pretty cool and laid-back, but we have no room for him at the in, so to speak.
Of course, I made sure to hit the plaza in time for the end of the countdown and the beginning of the New Year. I always enjoy fireworks! And, of course, chatting with all my friends who were partying. I set off my party poppers, waved my glow stick and had fun. But only for a little bit. It was getting past my bedtime!
In the morning, I had a letter from Mom in my mailbox. “My dear Chris,” she wrote. “As I greet the New Year, I’ve decided to become one of those fancy “hobby” people. If my creativity were a flower, it would be in full bloom. Behold! — Mom.” And enclosed was another piece of Mom’s art. This time, a stained-glass style painting of a dog. It’s kind of abstract but I like it. Mom is very talented!
I was very happy to learn that a book I found laying in the snow belonged to Muffy. I’m still working on solidifying that friendship with her. Unfortunately, it’s still too early to become BFFs, and her thank you gift was just an athletic outfit. Oh well, maybe next time!
Gulliver also washed ashore this week and to thank me for helping him get back to his shipmates, he sent me another geisha wig. At first I thought I already had this color, but it turns out the one I have in storage is red and this is pink. So Gulliver’s still got some variations left, I guess!
When I checked in on Sherb, he was frantically toiling away crafting something. As always, I asked what it was, and to my surprise, it wasn’t something I already knew how to make! He was making a cute lily crown and shared the DIY recipe with me so I can make one myself now. I honestly thought I’d learned all there was to learn after nearly four years, but I guess not! Wow!
I’m pretty sure Isabelle mentioned shooting stars on January 1, but I forgot to go back at night to check. So when she mentioned shooting stars again during her announcements the next day, I made a note so I wouldn’t forget again! I found Celeste up on one of the highest parts of the island and she gave me a new DIY recipe. Unfortunately, it was for an iron wand…
Seriously, though. I mean, just look at it. It doesn’t look magical at all. Sigh.
Later in the week, I decided to go ahead and give making a snowman a try. I usually can’t quite get the proportions right and I totally thought his head was too big but go figure — he thought he was perfect! (Pretty sure I have all the Snowboy gifts already, though… which is why I don’t usually put myself through the stress of trying to make a perfect Snowboy anymore.)
I found Kitt wandering the beach lost in thought and she admitted she was thinking about moving away to see what lies elsewhere. I had to ask her to stay because I still don’t have her picture and she’s not nearly as annoying as I had expected her to be so I don’t mind her sticking around a bit longer.
We also closed out the week with a camper. Although I have to say that Raddie just gave me the heebie jeebies. Something about his creepy eyes and his mask. I assume he’s a doctor? Maybe? Or does he just like dressing up like that? To play doctor? Honestly, I’d rather not think about it. Hope he enjoyed his stay on Xanadu and especially his trip home!
