Dear Diary,

Well, in with the old and out with the new… isn’t that what they say? Even though I’ve never quite gotten all the roo-rah about celebrating the new year. You wake up on January first and it still feels like just another day. But maybe that’s just me! Anyway, a whole lot went down this week besides New Year’s, so let’s get started!

The week kicked off with another opportunity visit my nieces’ island of Ogunquitt. Naturally, I gave them each a big bag of bells to help pay off their loans and this time I was able to find Coco to say hi. I found out last time I visited that she’d moved from Xanadu to Ogunquitt but wasn’t able to find her anywhere to say hi. So it was nice this time around to be able to reconnect!

Back on Xanadu, we had a camper and while Bonbon kind of has resting bitch face, she still seemed pretty cool. But as usual, there’s no room on the island. Too bad she couldn’t have postponed her camping trip a week!

I saw Muffy lost in thought and worried she might be thinking about moving away again but it turns out she had just thought up a nickname for me and was a little nervous about telling it to me. She shouldn’t have worried, though, because “backbeat” is pretty awesome! I like it!

Then came New Year’s Eve and the big countdown in the plaza. Even though like I said, I don’t really go in for the whole new year thing, I will still buy a silk hat and join everyone else in the plaza waving around a glow stick like a weirdo. Heck, I even set off my party poppers! Then I ran around to talk to everyone to wish them a Happy New Year. Gotta keep up appearances!

They also often have amusing things to say about New Year’s. Lopez was celebrating by himself at home so I had to go back to his place after midnight to wish my boyfriend a Happy New Year. Not sure why he stayed in this year.

And of course, now that a new year has started, that means a new month, naturally, and another letter from Mom. This time she again went on about becoming one of those hobby people and sent me another piece of Mom’s art. It’s a lovely framed painting of some pink flowers. She does good work!

Finally, at the end of the week, Robin admitted to me that she was planning to move away. Since she recently gave me her picture, I can happily send her on her way with all my best wishes. She was a delight and I hope she finds a lovely new home. Now… who will move into her place? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
